Katie Blucher (she/her/hers)
The Work
Katie Blucher is one of the owners of Dun-Pikin and BACC's Equine Assistant. Katie has lived in Pasadena her whole life and was a graduate of Chesapeake High School, which is located right next to the farm. She has been riding since she was two and formally started riding lessons at seven. Katie was a working student for over seven years at dozens of different farms in Davidsonville, Maryland, and has direct training under Steuart Pittman. She reports that this hands-on experience was a top-notch and well-rounded experience and that this immersive experience filled in gaps her training couldn't teach her as this was daily, hands-on work with horses, studying horse behavior and biology. Katie considers English riding and balance seat (aka "hunt seat") her favorite riding type as her background is in event dressage, cross country, and show jumping. Katie is specifically passionate about working with young horses and Thoroughbreds due to their athletic nature and strong personalities. Although there are a lot of animals living on the farm, Katie is passionate about working with Equines because of the deep bond that develops between Equine and Humans.
Owning two horses herself, Kate (Thoroughbred, 17.1 hands) and Finnegan (daughter of a horse she used to own). She likes to spend time with each of them daily.
She lives locally with her husband, who is a U.S. Veteran with three dogs and one cat, and a rescue pig named lil' pup.
