The Work

Hi, I’m Brittney. I strive to create a safe and sacred space that is free of judgment.  I empower clients to be the best version of themselves by promoting self-care and providing education on how to establish healthy relationships, and boundaries.  I will teach you coping skills to help manage your stress, and emotions.  I value integrity, empathy, humor, and building rapport. Each session is intentional and catered to your needs.  This space is welcoming, and you can be vulnerable.  I encourage transparency.

I am passionate about working with those who range from teenagers to middle adulthood.  My therapeutic approach is person centered, strengths based, solution focused, along with motivational interviewing and talk therapy.  The area’s I focus on are Self-esteem, work-life balance, anxiety, and effective communication.

I am a Licensed Master Social worker.  I received my bachelor’s in social work with a minor in Sociology from North Carolina A & T and continued my studies to obtain my Master of Social Work from North Carolina State University, while there I was selected to serve as a HRSA behavioral health scholar and gained much experience working within an inpatient psychiatric unit.  I have obtained a vast array of experience working with youth, and families in settings such as hospitals, child welfare agencies, and schools.

A little bit more about me--

Groups I vibe with

BIPOC providers, Women, Millennials, Generation Z.

What do you view as a key component of the therapeutic alliance/relationship?

Strong rapport is vital.  It is necessary for the client and therapist to develop a healthy therapeutic relationship.  When rapport is solid, all other components will fall into place, such as: Effective communication, emotional safety, and treatment.

How do your life philosophy and treatment philosophy overlap?

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. It cost nothing to be kind.

What do you love most about being a mental health professional?

I love that I get to help people process their emotions, and normalize for them that self-care is not selfish.
