  • FAQ

    • What should I expect at my first session? Your first session is more about orientation than deep therapy.  You’ll meet your clinician, talk through what brought you in, discuss goals, and start building rapport.  Expect questions—this helps us understand context and support you well.
    • Is what I share confidential? Yes. Everything you share is protected by privacy laws and ethical standards, with rare legal exceptions (such as immediate risk of harm to yourself or others or past abuse that has never been reported). Your clinician will review these limits with you before you begin discussing the reasons for therapy.
    • How should I prepare? Come as you are.  It’s normal to feel nervous, hopeful, or unsure.  If you want to bring a list of topics or think about things you want to work on or process through, that’s ok!
    • How long are sessions typically? Most individual sessions are 45–50 minutes.  The first sessions may run slightly longer due to intake needs.
    • What if therapy doesn’t feel like a good fit? Fit matters. If you don’t feel supported or understood after a few sessions, it’s okay to talk about it or explore a different clinician.
    • Will my insurance cover therapy? Coverage varies by plan. You can contact your insurance provider to verify benefits or ask our office for assistance.  We do our best to do a soft verification of benefits but it is your responsibility to understand your coverage.
