Courtney Jones

Courtney Jones is a Board-Certified Supervisor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional with over fifteen years of experience working with children, preteens, adults, and families. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Salisbury University and a dual Master’s in Social Work from the University of Maryland, with concentrations in Management and Community Organization as well as Clinical Social Work, specializing in Mental Health.

Courtney is nationally certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), holds certification in Equine Partnered Facilitation, and is trained in the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) and Level One Brainspotting.

She is particularly passionate about supporting survivors of complex trauma and individuals who are dually diagnosed, helping them explore the relationship between substance use and unresolved trauma. Courtney also enjoys working with college students, athletes, and professional caregivers—such as teachers, nurses, social workers, and fellow clinicians.

Courtney utilizes an integrative approach to mental health treatment, often incorporating psychometrics alongside a wide range of modalities, including: Trauma-Focused CBT, Mindfulness-Based Interventions, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Somatic Experiencing, Polyvagal Theory, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Animal-Assisted Therapy, and Person-Centered approaches. Her work is also influenced by psychoanalytic theory, attachment-based perspectives, and a deep respect for neuroplasticity and the brain-body connection. She is committed to practicing through a social justice lens, recognizing the impact of systemic oppression and impacts of MACRO and intergenerational trauma.

In addition to her psychotherapy practice, Courtney facilitates equine-assisted psychotherapy (EAP) and meditation groups that support individuals in exploring self-regulation, mindfulness, and embodied healing through animal-based experiences. Her personal and professional work is influenced by Buddhist teachings, and she engages in weekly Buddhist teacher meditation training.

Courtney has extensive experience in program development, project management, and clinical supervision. Prior to founding the group practice, she developed and led community-based programs, including Psychiatric Rehabilitation Programs (PRP) and outpatient mental health services. She was honored with the Forsythia Award by the University of Maryland in recognition of her impactful work in inner-city schools, where she established peer mediation groups that significantly reduced office referrals and reported altercations among middle school students.
